Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met with Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte in Belgrade today, stressing that the government is ready to improve the two-way cooperation between Serbia-Montenegro and The Hague.
The government is taking concrete steps to that end and is aware of its international obligations, said Kostunica, but added that the government must preserve political stability in the country.
Both sides agreed that Serbian authorities and The Hague Tribunal must improve communication as well.
Del Ponte noted that the tribunal has transferred certain cases to the Serbian special court for war crime trials, adding that the move has been described as an important step in improving cooperation.
She went on to call for full political support for Serbian judicial bodies handling war crime trials and noted that she expects Belgrade to fully cooperate with the tribunal in The Hague.
