Kovacevic to be tried in Serbia

The Serbian government issued a statement today concerning the decision by the prosecutor’s office in New York to transfer the case of Miladin Kovacevic to Serbian courts, that this problem, which had seriously undermined relations between Serbia and the US, has been resolved successfully, considering the fact that Serbian laws do not allow the extradition of Serbian citizens.
According to the statement, the decision by the prosecutor’s office in New York could be seen as recognition of the effectiveness of the Serbian justice system and the resolving of the Kovacevic case will improve Serbia’s international image.
