Kostunica insisted that the state union must be preserved and the Constitutional Charter implemented, noting that the recommended "two-track lane" approach to Serbia-Montenegro's accession to the EU will help overcome existing obstacles and speed up the accession procedure.
The Prime Minister went on to say that strengthening institutions and passing key laws will have a positive effect on the economic unity of Serbia and Montenegro, adding that the forthcoming Serbia-Montenegrin parliamentary election is also of high importance.
Busek pledged his full support for the preservation of the state union, which he said is important not only for stability in the Balkans, but also for the entire region of South Eastern Europe.
Kostunica reiterated that institutional guarantees are necessary to ensure the safety, survival and return of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs. According to him, only strong institutional guarantees can encourage provincial Serbs to take part in the local election this fall.
Busek also called for full observance of human rights in Kosovo-Metohija, underlined the significance of an agreement on free trade in South Eastern Europe and urged all countries in the region to combat organised crime.
