The Ministry said in a statement that this is only one in a series of commemorative gatherings organised by the Serbian government to mark the
Remembrance Day for victims of the 1999 NATO bombing.
The memorial to the children killed in the 1999 NATO bombing in Belgrade’s Tasmajdan Park was erected up by the Vecernje Novosti daily newspaper, in cooperation with its readers, as soon as the NATO attack ceased.
The memorial is dedicated to the 89 children who lost their lives during the period from March 24 to June 10, 1999.
The commemorative gathering was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Konuzin and representatives from the Serbian Army and NGOs, as well as a large number of citizens, concluded the statement.
