Following a meeting with State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior Peter Altmaier, Dacic voiced his expectation that the European Commission, all EU states and their interior ministries will give a positive assessment when it comes to visa liberalisation for Serbian citizens.
Having signed a joint statement of intentions and a protocol on a donation with Altmaier, Dacic said that the agreement is a huge step forward which will help establish better relations with EU police structures, especially when it comes to interior safety.
Dacic said that cooperation with the German police and the German Ministry of the Interior is important because Serbia wants put at the EU’s disposal all achievements of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior in the field of visa liberalisation.
Dacic recalled that Germany is one of Serbia’s key strategic partners regarding the improvement of interior security, adding that an inter-state agreement will soon be signed on cooperation between the Serbian and German interior ministries.
He said that the German government has financed several projects, adding that police cooperation between the two countries has been very successful.
The Minister stressed that Germany is Serbia’s most important partner in terms of visa liberalisation and police cooperation.
Altmaier pointed out that the Serbian and German interior ministries have considerably improved their relations in the past four months.
He noted that Germany has always supported Serbia in its efforts to achieve the removal of visa restrictions and is ready to provide help in this respect.
Altmaier has highly evaluated Serbia’s efforts to provide security, which will be in line with EU standards.
The Serbian Interior Ministry today received a Landrover Defender and a Lada Niva, a boat trailer МТ 3500 OLMEIER and some computer equipment.
