Dacic announced activities on an agreement that would deploy police representatives in embassies and consulates of Serbia.
According to him, the officers will be in charge of political affairs and be liaison officers.
The agreement will be made first with those countries where Serbia has the need for a very active and fast political cooperation, Dacic announced.
He explained that the deployment of Serbian police representatives in embassies and consulates is in accordance with the Law on police.
Dacic recalled that foreign countries have been sending their police representatives to Serbia since 2000, adding that 28 police representative from 24 countries are currently being deployed in Serbia.
The Minister specified that cooperation with foreign police representatives has been very efficient so far.
Minister Dacic pointed out that this kind of cooperation is of major importance for the fight against organised crime, adding that the Serbian police mostly exchange information with those countries where there is a large number of Serbian citizens.
He announced that the Interior Ministry will hold annual meetings with liaison officers.
According to Dacic, all countries should fight against organised crime together.
The Minister today discussed with liaison officers accredited in Serbia ways of promoting police cooperation.
The Czech liaison officer said that this meeting is of vital importance for further cooperation and the exchange of experiences.
He said that all liaison officers appreciate Serbia’s efforts in this respect, adding that Serbia should immediately start deploying its officers as that is the most efficient way to fight against cross-border crime.
