Serbia to chair UNEP over next two years

A Serbian delegation, headed by Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic, will chair the Global Ministerial Environment Forum of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), taking place on February 16-20, in Nairobi.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Minister Dulic will chair the Governing Council of the UNEP Global Ministerial Environment Forum, comprising environment ministers from 58 UN member states, for the next two years.
The Governing Council estimates global environmental problems, defines priorities and adopts budgets, informing the UN General Assembly about its activities.
The 25th Global Ministerial Forum will start with the Global crisis–National Chaos debate and pay special attention to the provision of food, energy and water all over the world.
Serbia takes an active part in all UNEP programmes and uses funds from the Global Environment Fund, especially for climate change and biodiversity protection.
