Slobodan Homen
Homen told the Beta news agency that the working group, operating within the EU project, is about to finish drafting the criteria, of which the Venetian Commission will afterwards give its opinion.
This is an important step for Serbia because we are demonstrating openness, which will greatly help our country during the upcoming process of appointing judges, said the State Secretary, specifying that the High Council of the Judiciary is competent enough to adopt the criteria.
He expressed expectation that the Venetian Commission will examine the criteria at a session on March 13, after which a public debate will follow.
He also said that Serbia will incorporate all the suggestions made by this institution.
The criteria will be modelled on the best examples, in order to adopt a regulation that will provide an efficient, high quality and fast judiciary.
