Skundric said that the potential of renewable sources is equal to the annual consumption of oil products in Serbia.
He stated that a safe energy supply, increasing energy efficiency, environmental protection and use of renewable sources of energy, as well as stabilisation and association with European and regional organisations are the current goals of the Serbian energy sector.
Skundric said that the use of solar energy in the south of Serbia could reduce consumption of electric energy by one fifth.
He announced that the Ministry is preparing incentives for investors who produce energy from renewable sources by offering them 12-year contracts with Elektroprivreda Srbije.
Skundric said that two days ago in Bonn Serbia signed the statute and became one of the 75 founding states of the International Agency for Renewable Energies (IRENA), which can be a serious response to both the energy and the overall financial crisis.
