Minister for the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic said that a public debate on the bill for the Diaspora showed there is great interest in adopting this law, which will be the basis for a new, long-lasting and partner-based policy on the Diaspora.
Sreckovic said that concrete and constructive proposals arrived from over 500 organisations, associations and individuals from many countries.
The Diaspora Ministry will accept all proposals that are in line with Serbian laws and EU recommendations, he said.
The EU Integration Office also stated that the bill is in line with EU legislation, he said.
Our wish is that the law is adopted by a consensus of all participants as a common project of the state and the Diaspora, the Minister said, adding that this will speed up the process of establishing closer economic, cultural and political ties with the Diaspora.
