In a statement to Radio Television Serbia, Jeremic said that he will discuss the extremely disturbing events unfolding in the province and the formation of paramilitary forces of the so called state of Kosovo, which is a flagrant violation of
Security Council Resolution 1244.
He said that he will consult Security Council members about holding a session to discuss the next report by the international community about the situation in Kosovo.
Speaking about his meeting with the EU ministerial troika yesterday in Brussels Jeremic said that Serbia has before it the challenging task of ensuring consensus between all 27 member states about sending a mission to Serbia.
He said that that mission should establish whether Serbia is cooperating with the Hague tribunal or not, adding that Serbia has nothing to hide and is willing to show in a transparent manner all the efforts it is making to cooperate.
He said that Serbia’s stance is that it is fully cooperating with the Hague tribunal and the EU should be able to verify this.
He explained that the purpose of the mission is not to circumvent the tribunal and the report by Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, but to complete that report.
Speaking about talks held with Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen, who has accepted an invitation to visit Belgrade, Jeremic said that The Netherlands support Serbia’s EU integration.
The Netherlands makes full cooperation with the Hague tribunal a condition and it is up to us to convince them, said Jeremic.
