Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said today in Moscow, at the Russian gas summit attended by heads of states and governments of consumer and transit countries, that the gas supply problem must be resolved urgently.

He said that means of additional gas supply must be secured and pointed to the importance of building alternative pipelines.
Earlier today Cvetkovic and other heads of states met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The Serbian Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric and Director of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic represented Serbia at the summit, which was held at the Russian President’s initiative.
Skundric said at the end of the summit that he is convinced that talks between Russia and Ukraine will lead to an agreement on resuming normal gas supply.
In a statement to Tanjug news agency Skundric said that there was general agreement that it is necessary to resolve this issue immediately, adding that all sides are expecting an urgent solution to the dispute.
He stressed that agreement was reached at the summit that supply should resume and conditions should be created for the transition of gas to South Eastern Europe and the EU.
The Minister said that talks between Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Yulia Tymoshenko were continued directly after the summit, in order to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
