Speaking at a press conference Bajatovic said that it was agreed that the gas delivery from Hungary and Germany will arrive by January 20, adding that domestic production is being maintained at 1 million cubic metres, which means that Serbia should secure the necessary quantities of gas for district heating systems at the latest by the aforementioned date.
Currently we are making efforts to reach an agreement with Gazprom and Austria to secure a further 2 to 4 million cubic metres of gas daily for industrial use, said Bajatovic.
He said that the Serbian government, diplomatic representatives and the President’s cabinet are participating in these talks.
Bajatovic said that even if additional quantities of gas for industrial use are secured, gas supply to big consumers will not begin yet to prevent risk of damage to the supply system if the supply were to be cut off again.
He said that Mazut oil supply is stable and appealed to consumers to save electricity to prevent overloading.
Speaking about the possibility of filing a lawsuit against Ukraine for obstructing supply from Russia he said that the legal team of Srbijgas will determine the legal basis for doing so but the decision to file suit will be made in agreement with the Serbian government.
He recalled that the €21.8 million project for completing the gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor and building a high pressure gas pipeline is ready, adding that he hopes that the project will be completed by the end of this year.
