Before the beginning of the government’s Crisis Staff meeting Skundric said that due to the gas delivery from Hungary and Germany the heating systems are now functioning.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy Radivoje Milanovic said that the production of coal from all coal fields in Serbia is satisfactory and its amount is enough for all thermo electric power plants which use it as a fuel, so the heating system is stable.
He said that due to low temperatures the transport of coal is problematic, adding that 30.000 to 50.000 tonnes of coal are being produced every day in Kostolac.
The fact that Serbia daily produces approximately 150 million GW/h of electric energy is the proof that Serbia’s energy system is stable, said Milanovic.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy Nikola Rajakovic pointed out that Serbia has achieved great results concerning its energy sector and that the electricity supply will not be turned off.
Rajakovic said that today’s consumption of electric energy will amount to 150 GW/h, tomorrow it will be approximately 147 GW/h and next week Serbia’s electric power system will decrease its production as temperatures rise.
Skundric said that as soon as Ukraine and Russian solve their dispute, Serbia will receive gas supplies within 12 to 14 hours.
The Minister said that the levels of production and consumption of electric energy in Serbia are very high and therefore Serbia has reached its maximum in this respect, adding that the gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor will be able to produce 300 million cubic metres of gas in two years and in a further two years will start producing the planned 800 million cubic metres of gas.
Skundric announced that the filling of the gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor will be continued, regardless of the arrangement with Russia’s Gazprom.
