Director General of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said today that Hungary is now delivering gas to Serbia, which is being supplied at 250,000 cubic metres per hour. He said that by tomorrow morning Serbia will have received a total of 2 million cubic metres of gas, according to the agreement reached with Hungary.
In a statement to the Beta news agency Bajatovic said that the gas delivery from Hungary has resolved problems in Novi Sad and gas is now being supplied to Zrenjanin and Vrsac. Gas will also be supplied to Becej and Subotica.
Bajatovic said that there will be a short pause after that so that the supply system can recover and then gas will be supplied to Jagodina and Cacak.
He said that the gas from Hungary is not intended for supply to Belgrade because heating plants in Belgrade are working on Mazut oil, adding that the oil refinery in Novi Sad will soon be equipped to produce Mazut.
The aim is to keep the electricity supply system from becoming overloaded and to help people in areas where it is impossible to use fuels other than gas, explained Bajatovic.
