Public relations representative for the Ministry of Energy and Mining Milan Budimir today stated that the energy situation in Serbia is under control for the time being, adding that the crisis response team is in constant session.
Budimir told the Beta news agency that this afternoon Hungary will deliver between one and two million cubic metres of gas to Serbia, which will help solve the gas shortage issue in Vojvodina.
He stressed that the energy situation in the country is constantly being monitored and solutions sought for similar problems in other parts of Serbia.
The Serbian oil industry Naftna Industrija Srbije has enough heavy fuel oil supplies to meet the needs of all the heating plants in Serbia which had to shift to using heavy fuel oil, noted Budimir.
Budimir said that Elektroprivreda Srbije is working at full capacity and is not facing problems, but called on consumers to use energy resonably.
The government’s crisis response team is in constant session and in contact with authorities in charge of energy stability in the country.
Serbian President Boris Tadic and Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany today reached an agreement on gas delivery from Hungary.
Previous daily delivery of gas from Russia to Serbia was ten million cubic metres.
