Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic said that the Ministry’s priorities for 2009 will be the construction of 100 km of road Corridor 10, 50 km of modern railways and completion of the Belgrade railway junction.
Mrkonjic said that funds will be provided from the 2009 budget and international financial institutions’ loans.
Corridor 10 is to be completed over the next three years and it will comprise 300 km of roads.
Mrkonjic announced that the Ministry, in cooperation with the Serbian road company Putevi Srbije, will continue modernising and maintaining motorways and regional roads, the funds for which will be provided by an increase in the prices of gas and motorway tolls.
He added that RSD 1.2 will be set aside for local roads.
Mrkonjic pointed out that Serbia has neglected its river traffic, so another priority will also be the development of Corridor 7.
As for air traffic, the Ministry will work on the reconstruction of all enterprises connected to Jat Airways.
