He added that the Ministry initiated talks for Serbia’s membership in the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN).
Serbia has joined the European Supercomputer Club, the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) and initiated bilateral cooperation with Spain and Portugal, recalled the Minister.
Djelic said that the Ministry provided funds for 472 projects concerning technological development and endorsed 96 innovative projects and 34 projects for physical entities.
The Minister pointed out that the Ministry also organised a competition for the best technological innovation with a RSD 8 million prize and provided 110 monthly scholarships for the best PhD students worth RSD 32,000.
Djelic said he is not completely satisfied with the 2009 budget, which envisages €106 million for science and technology.
The Minister announced the signing of an agreement concerning technological cooperation with China, the adoption of the laws on scientific and research activity, innovative activity and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), as well as continuation of the construction of flats for scientists.
