The Sports Council held its first meeting today, pointing to the need for a national sports strategy and the adoption of a law on sports.
Members of the council suggested that the Sports Administration should transform into a ministry of sports, with the Olympic Committee being given a redefined role and structure.
The Council also suggested that professional top sportsmen who are expected to produce top results internationally be provided with adequate training and selective financial support.
It is also necessary to encourage participation in sports, particularly in schools, the members of the council concluded.
