Government adopts several bills

The Serbian government adopted at its session today the bill confirming the revised European Social Charter and the bill amending the law on official use of languages and scripts.
Also, the government adopted the bills on the standardisation and the well being of animals.
The government decided to increase salaries by 50% to employees in various bodies, organisations, services and public companies from the territory of Kosovo starting from January 2009.
Those who work in Kosovo and live elsewhere in Serbia will receive a salary increase of 12.5%. Elected and appointed officials will get a 10% salary increase.
The national strategy for the prevention of child abuse was adopted at today’s session.
The Decree on the farm registry stipulating regulations concerning the terms and conditions for registration and entry and deletion of data on farms into the registry was passed. The criteria for determining customs contingency pertaining to the import of certain goods in 2009 were also decided.
The government passed a decision to implement the action “Clean Serbia” aimed at removing unorganized waste depots and ecological industry capacity building in 2009.
Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac informed members of the government at today’s session about the ongoing implementation of reforms in the Defence Ministry and the Serbian Army, stressing that the security situation is stable.
