Mrkonjic announced that by February 1 Jat management will have to draft a detailed plan on how the funds will be used.
He recalled that Jat Airways and Jat Tehnika have been returned under the jurisdiction of his Ministry, recalling that during their privatisation process there were under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy.
According to him, the short-term measures in Jat have already been implemented and the working group, composed of representatives from the government, Jat and banks, is preparing a medium-term plan with measures which should resolve the company’s issues.
Mrkonjic announced that the surplus workers in Jat, i.e. between 600 and 700 of them, will be given new jobs, adding that the goal is to make Jat Airways Serbia’s brand once again.
Assistant Minister for Air Traffic Radoslav Tomasevic stressed that Jat Tehnika employs around 1000 people, of whom 400 are mechanics capable of repairing and maintaining European and American types of airplanes.
