At a press conference held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, where Dulic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with representatives from the cement plant Cementna Industrija Srbije, Dulic said that international financial institutions had agreed to provide loans for the construction of motorway sections from Nis to the Bulgarian border and from Leskovac to the Macedonian border.
The Minister added that the state will not be able to provide funds for the construction of the Belgrade–South Adriatic motorway.
He said that a concession tender for the motorway might be announced in the upcoming years.
The ceremony of signing the Memorandum was attended by the memorandum’s signatories, Director General of Titan Cementara Kosjeric Dimitris Zisis, Director General of Lafarge Beocinska Fabrika Cementa Kostin Bork and Director General of Fabrika Cementa Kolcin Srbija Gustav Navar, as well as by President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Milos Bugarin.
Dulic explained that the document defines adequate waste usage and will enable the cement plant to use various forms of waste as an alternative fuel source.
The process will be strictly controlled and the cement plant will be able to process 25,000 tonnes of automobile and tractor tyres a year, around 350,000 tonnes of waste material from Sartid, considerable amounts of side products from the meat industry and ash from thermal electric plants, explained the Minister, adding that this way the state will solve the waste issue and clean up the country at the same time.
Dulic said that waste will be used in line with strictly prescribed standards, which will help Serbia to fulfil its obligations stemming from the Kyoto Protocol.
Zisis said that the Memorandum will benefit the entire community, adding that it is a positive step for both the state and investors since it will help create an environmental protection system.
He noted that socially-responsible companies fully endorse the state’s efforts to protect the environment.
