Cvetkovic stressed that electronic signatures are an important step towards the introduction of an electronic administration system in Serbia.
This demonstration has showed us how easy and simple this is and that everyone will be able to use it, said the Prime Minister, adding that the government will implement the project to introduce an electronic administration in Serbia.
He commended the Ministry for Telecommunications and Information Society for the success it achieved in that direction.
The introduction of the electronic signature will increase efficiency and reduce corruption and Serbia will show that it is going to join the EU not only formally but with proper European standards, he said.
Matic explained that the entire package, which includes a card, card reader and an annual lease of the signature, will cost RSD 6,500.
She said that the electronic signature can greatly facilitate citizens’ lives, speed up procedures and reduce costs both for citizens and the economy, adding that it has helped reduce corruption in every country where it has been introduced.
She voiced her hope that during the next month adequate procedures will be set up to enable the use of the electronic signature, adding that the fact that its issuing has finally begun is important, because until now no one had the motivation to implement these procedures.
She said that PTT Srbija had to undergo a complex procedure to be registered as the first body certified to issue electronic signatures, which also included staff training and the introduction of entirely new procedures and systems.
Director of PTT Srbija Goran Ciric said that the electronic signature will enable citizens to get, for example, birth certificates at the company counters throughout Serbia.
