Award recipients include representatives of major donor countries – Japanese Ambassador Tadashi Nagai, Norwegian Ambassador Haakon Blankenborg and Head of the UK Department for International Development’s Belgrade Office Paul Wafer.
NGO Victoria was given the award for its work with the elderly, while the Subotica Gerontology Centre won best institution in this field.
The Forum of the Young with Disabilities won the award for their work with the disabled.
Slavica and Emil Cvetkovic received the award for best foster family, the best manager of a social care institution is Director of the Stara Pazova Social Work Centre Vesna Trbovic, whereas RTS journalist Branko Stankovic received recognition for humanity.
Children in care Radmila Jojic, Djordje Topalovic and Jerko Ignjic, who achieved excellent results at school, also received recognition.
Ljajic said that this award ceremony is going to become a regular event, adding that this is a chance to show how those in care can perform well and be dedicated.
The governments of Japan, UK and Norway financially backed Serbia’s efforts to reform an outdated and inadequate social care system.
