Sutanovac specified that these flats will be in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and other towns with large military garrisons, recalling that together with today’s 26 flats, a total of 121 flats in Belgrade’s residential area Bezanijska Kosa have been handed over this year, making a total of 183 in the whole of Serbia.
The Minister said that 149 flats have been procured through favourable loans, adding that around RSD 150 million has been allocated in next year’s budget for these loans.
Sutanovac said that the tax administration is estimating the value of military property which the Serbian Property Directorate sold through tenders.
He said he will insist on a just price for all further property that will go on sale, adding that negotiations are underway with local authorities to exchange military property for apartments.
Sutanovac said he will support the professionalisation of the Serbian Army, to be finalised by 2010 despite a smaller budget, as it is in the state interest.
