Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic and head of the Directorate for Execution of Penalties Milos Jankovic spoke today with a delegation of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
Serbia-Montenegro as member of the Council of Europe (CoE) is obliged to respect the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the Minister said.
Head of the EU delegation Mauro Palma said that the aim of their visit is to improve the protection of persons taken into custody.
The Committee members will visit Serbian prisons in the next two years, reads a statement of the Justice Ministry.
