The agreement was signed at the Serbian government building, following the meeting between Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Minister Djelic, Minister Dragutinovic and EIB President Philip Maystadt.
Djelic said the two sides agreed that next year the EIB will open an office in Belgrade, which will be in charge of the entire Western Balkans.
The Minister stressed that Serbia expects cooperation with the EIB to be continued and recalled that the EIB has already provided funds for Corridor 10 and a €250 million loan for SMEs.
He said that the EIB is Serbia’s key financial partner on its path toward the EU.
Dragutinovic said that the first €50 million will be allocated for municipal and regional infrastructure and realised by the Ministry for the National Investment Plan.
She specified that this 20 year loan, provided under EIB’s regular conditions, will be used for the construction of roads, schools and for cultural and historic objects.
Dragutinovic said that another €70 million will be set aside for modernisation of hospitals in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Nis and Novi Sad, adding that this 25 year loan will be realised by the Ministry of Health.
The Minister concluded that both loans are to be ratified by Serbian parliament next year.
