Dacic told the Beta news agency that he expects the government to discuss the new document soon, adding that it may be adopted early in 2009.
He explained that once it is passed, new driving licences and registration plates will be issued in line with European standards.
The new rulebook envisages that the current registration plates, with the flag of the Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia-Montenegro, are replaced within a year with new plates bearing the Serbian flag.
The new plates will have Serbia’s international abbreviation SRB on them, as well as a registration consisting of three or four numbers and two-letter combinations.
