At a panel discussion regarding railway Corridor 10, Mrkonjic said that €1.1 billion will be earmarked for the following four years, adding that Serbia must construct a double truck railway for trains whose speed will be from 160 to 250 km per hour.
He stressed that the Belgrade junction and the Nis-Dimitrovgrad and Kragujevac-Lapovo railways will be constructed first.
Minister for the National Investment Plan Verica Kalnovic recalled that Corridor 10 is a national project of top priority, adding that the 2009 budget will not hamper its realisation.
Kalanovic specified that RSD 5 billion will be set aside from the state budget for infrastructure and RSD 12 billion for the National Investment Plan, saying that €282 million is envisaged for the development of railway traffic, €10 million of which for Corridor 10.
