Following the signing Samardzic-Markovic stressed that the project themed "Strengthening Human Capital in Serbia through Active Participation of the Young" will be implemented in ten Serbian municipalities over the next three years, in order to increase the engagement of the young in social activities.
She said that the project will support the opening of regional and local offices for youths and implement programmes aimed at their social cohesion.
She also recalled that the Ministry signed 82 agreements for setting up local youth offices. The long-term goal is to prevent the brain drain, she added.
Italian Ambassador to Serbia Alessandro Merola said that the young can realise their chances in society only through participation in public life in the areas where they live.
The project, worth €1.1 million, will be focused on estimation of needs, building capacities, implementing youth programmes, strengthening local and regional networks and improving awareness on the position of youths.
