Serbia accepted all the principles in the UN Secretary General’s report, which the UN Security Council adopted by presidential statement on November 26 last year, which includes the following:
- the EULEX mission will fully abide by UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and respect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity;
- the EULEX mission will not implement the Martti Ahtisaari plan;
- the EULEX mission will act under the UN umbrella in the province and remain status-neutral;
- the UN Secretary General’s six-item plan is hereby accepted.
As for measures to mitigate the impact of the global financial crisis to the Serbian market, the government today adopted the bill on temporary tax reliefs on certain contributions to citizens’ salaries and amendments to the law on property tax.
These laws define measures which will stimulate citizens’ bank savings and securities exchange, as they envisage the abolition of the tax on savings, capital gains and the transfer of securities trading rights by the end of 2009.
The government today appointed the deputy president and other members of the EU Integration Council, as well as the president and expert team members of the Coordinating Body for EU Accession.
The government also agreed to accept the Director General of Nikola Tesla Airport Bojan Kristo’s resignation.
