The Human Rights Council (HRC), based in Geneva, was established in accordance with General Assembly Resolution 60/251 of March 15, 2006 and consists of 47 member states of the UN.
On June 18, 2007, the HRC responded to this request and adopted, in resolution 5/1, detailed modalities regarding the UPR mechanism.
The review is conducted by one working group, composed of all 47 member states of the Council.
So far 32 countries have submitted their reports.
The working group’s third session is scheduled to take place at the Office of the UN in Geneva, from December 1 to 15.
