Serbian Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic stated today that Serbia has great expectations from the Czech EU presidency, due to start January 1, 2009.
Dulic is in Prague at the invitation of Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Martin Bursik.
Dulic voiced hope that the Czech Republic will provide political and practical help for Serbia to acquire EU candidate status in 2009.
He said that the two sides agreed that the Czech Republic will help Serbia to synchronise its environmental laws with EU legislation by January 1, 2009.
The Czech Republic will continue to assist Serbia’s environmental projects, said the Minister, adding that several projects have already been successfully implemented.
Dulic said that this visit is important for the exchange of experiences concerning the management of waste depots and renewable energy sources, adding that the Czech Republic is interested in investing in Serbia in this respect.
Dulic will meet Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Martin Bursik later today.
