Italian Ambassador to Serbia Alessandro Merola said that €3.5 million will be used to buy dialysis machines and €2.5 million to equip gynaecological and paediatric departments.
Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic thanked the people and the government of Italy, noting that this amount is equal to half of Serbia’s total annual investment in health.
The Minister announced the opening of eight new centres for dialysis – in Senta, Kovacica, Stara Pazova, Zagubica, Petrovac, Kursumlija, Arandjelovac and Vrnjacka Banja.
Thanks to this donation, the centres for dialysis will get 355 new dialysis machines, while the newly opened centres will get 61 machines.
The Italian Ambassador recalled that his government has donated €200 million to Serbia and noted that Italy plans to donate another €40 million in the near future.
