Speaking at the opening ceremony Milosavljevic said that health management is important for the overall improvement of the health system.
Head of the European Commission delegation to Serbia Josep Lloveras said that in its recent report the European Commission stated that Serbia’s administrative and managerial capacities are limited therefore the EU will continue to finance reforms.
He said that Serbia should continue to work on the modernization of the health system with patients in the focus, adding that the EU integration process is not something abstract; it is a process of modernization that is meant to improve the lives of ordinary people.
He said that the EU invested nearly €50 million in 20 hospitals in Serbia in the period from 2003 to 2007.
The health management conference has been organised by the Clinical Centre of Serbia, under the auspices of the Medical Faculty in Belgrade, the Ministry of Health and the European Commission Delegation to Serbia.
Some 20 lecturers from European countries, experts in the area of managing systems in transition, are taking part in the conference and are to present solutions to problems in health management that will be implemented in health establishments in Serbia.
