Awards presented for best EU integration news coverage

The Serbian EU Integration Office stated that it has presented awards in five categories for the best news coverage of EU integration in Serbia during the period January–November 2008.
The statement adds that awards for the best news article were presented to FoNet agency’s Nenad Vulovic and to journalist Jelena Jevremovic for her article in the Glas Javnosti daily. The award for the best media coverage in the local media went to RTV Panonija’s Aristea Stakic, for the best TV coverage to Boban Trajkovic, journalist at the Mreza production group, while Goran Janicevic, also from the Mreza production group received the award for the best coverage on SMEs in the EU integration context.
The winning journalists will visit Brussels and Paris from December 7 to 13, where they will meet with representatives of the European Commission in charge of enlargement and information services, representatives of the French administration and their foreign colleagues.
The jury comprised B92 journalist Ljubica Gojgic, representatives from the European Commission Delegation, Erste Bank, the French Embassy and the EU Integration Office, Aleksandar Djordjevic, Mirjana Sakic, Jelena Mandic and Ivana Djuric.
The competition was financed by the European Commission Delegation, the French Embassy and Erste Bank.
Awards will be presented on December 5 at the EU Integration Office’s annual reception.
The overall impression of this year’s contest is that Serbia’s EU integration is mainly a specialised topic because regular the news and other shows still do not deal with it.
