Speaking at a press conference held at a two day regional conference on EU integration in Zagreb, Delevic said that the entire Western Balkans could take a step forward in the EU accession process.
She said that after the progress report issued by the EU at the beginning of November Serbia will acquire candidate status in 2009 and will be put on the Schengen “white list”.
She said that she is satisfied with the meeting and cooperation with her counterparts from other countries in the region that are also implementing reforms in judiciary and economy and fighting against corruption and organised crime, adding that she was also pleased to see cooperation between ministries regarding the recent murders in Zagreb.
The conference in Zagreb was organised by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the German organisation for technical cooperation GTZ. More than 150 participants from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia Montenegro as well as European Commission representatives are taking part in the conference.
Subjects of discussion at the conference are European integration, implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, implementation of the IPA programme, judiciary, security and communication with the public on issues connected to the EU.
