Preparations for IPA funds management to start

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management today stated that the head of the Unit for Pre-accession Assistance to Agriculture and Rural Development Kaj Mortensen was on a three day visit to Serbia.
On the first working day European Commission representatives met with representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Cabinet of Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic.
At the first meeting Mortensen introduced Serbian representatives to the necessity of creating an adequate infrastructure for using EU pre-accession funds, while the Serbian delegation presented their activities regarding preparations for the management of decentralised IPA funds.
The next day Mortensen met with donors in the fields of agriculture and rural development. Representatives of Austrian, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, US, German, Dutch and Greek embassies, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Proramme and GTZ presented their projects and discussed future cooperation.
Mortensen presented the conditions for using IPARD funds. Representatives of the European Commission and the Serbian Ministry also met with the Prime Minister’s associates.
The Prime Minister’s Cabinet fully supported the Ministry’s efforts regarding the provision of better living and working conditions in villages.
On the third working day a panel discussion was held, comprising Mortensen, who gave advice regarding IPA funds management, Croatian Assistant Minister for Agricultural Policy Miroslav Bozic and Assistant Minister for the Analysis and Agrarian Policy Milos Milovanovic.
