In a statement to TV Pink, Jeremic said that fairly transparent talks were conducted with the UN. He stressed that the Serbian negotiation platform was based on the Serbian Constitution and decisions made by the Serbian parliament.
“The agreement is there and we expect that it will be presented before the Security Council, but I do not know when that will happen. When it is put before the Security Council, Serbia will back it and we will get a reconfiguration plan that follows Resolution 1244 and respects the Serbian Constitution,” said Jeremic.
He said that this agreement is within the limits set by the conditions, about which Belgrade has kept the public fully informed, adding that these conditions arise from Resolution 1244 and the Serbian Constitution.
The Minister said that Serbia, together with Russia, a permanent Security Council member, is willing to support the reconfiguration of the international civilian presence in Kosovo, but only as long as the mission does not undermine Serbia’s sovereignty and does not attempt to implement the Ahtisaari plan.
Speaking about the unwillingness of Kosovo authorities to accept such an agreement, Jeremic said that the authorities in Pristina have become accustomed to taking unilateral actions and making violent threats.
He said that they are not in the habit of solving problems through dialogue, adding that Belgrade has solved the problem by reaching an agreement and Pristina will have no choice but to accept the agreement between Serbia and all UN member countries.
