Sutanovac attends 90th anniversary of Armistice Day in France

Serbian Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac today attended a ceremony at Verdun marking the 90th anniversary of the end of World War One.
According to a Defence Ministry statement, French President Nicolas Sarkozy opened the ceremony, attended by several world leaders, at the place where the famous Battle of Verdun took place.
The Serbian delegation attended the ceremony at the invitation of President Sarkozy.
In a statement to Radio Serbia Sutanovac stated that France fully supports Serbia’s EU integration process.
He said that he hopes that Serbia will acquire candidate status by the end of next year. “Paris has full understanding for Serbia’s European aspirations. I hope that we will succeed in our efforts to finally open doors to the EU,” said Sutanovac.
Serbia was an honourable guest at last evening’s ceremony in Paris, both Serbian and French national anthems being played at the ceremony.
