Sutanovac told the FoNet news agency that he is particularly pleased that Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping endorsed not only Serbia’s efforts to solve the Kosovo issue through negotiation, but also its European road, which was later affirmed at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to him the main reason for the Serbian delegation’s visit to China was to sign the agreement on cooperation in defence, which confirms Serbia’s desire to continue cooperation with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
Sutanovac also held a lecture at the Beijing Military Academy and explained the situation in the region, with particular reference to Kosovo He also spoke about reforms to the Serbian defence system.
He stressed that Chinese officers showed great interest in the topics and asked questions which showed they are familiar with that region, as well as with the problems of Serbia’s defence system.
I was both surprised and delighted at that, because it is obvious they are interested in the entire region and the Serbian Army in particular, said Sutanovac.
During his stay in Beijing Sutanovac also visited the Chinese Space Centre. On Friday he was in Shanghai, where he met with the commander of the Shanghai garrison.
