Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Roberto Antonioni welcomed the message of quick integration of Serbia-Montenegro into the EU expressed by the European Union foreign ministers at their meeting in Maastricht
At a meeting in the Serbian government, Kostunica thanked Italy on the assistance it has given to Serbia-Montenegro on its path towards the EU. The Prime Minister said that the level of cooperation between the two countries is good, especially in the field of economic cooperation.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Italy's help to Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija and the preservation of Serbian cultural heritage. He reiterated the importance of additional institutional guarantees for the safety of Serbs in the province.
Kostunica said that it is necessary to expand economic cooperation between the two countries. The upcoming visit of Italian investors to Serbia, scheduled for October, will largely contribute to that.
