In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Milosavljevic said that 55 Serbian companies will participate in the exhibition, which will be held from November 5 to 7 in Russia, and will be opened by Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic.
The Minister said that the national exhibition in Krasnodar should result in more business interests and projects and Serbia’s continued presence in Russia.
He said that the exhibition is an attempt to widen Serbia’s economic presence in Russia, expanding it beyond Moscow, which was until now the focus of interest for Serbian business-people, to regions and cities that have similarly large potential and where Serbian businesses could land bigger deals than in Moscow.
He said that the exhibition is being held in Krasnodar because it is one of the most developed Russian cities and received record investment, after Moscow and St Petersburg.
The area is of interest because of Sochi, host to the 2014 Winter Olympics, an event for which the Russian government has allocated $20 billion, said the Minister.
The goal is to compete for some of the Winter Olympics projects by presenting Serbian companies at the exhibition, he said.
The Minister said that hopefully the exhibition will be more successful than similar events held earlier and will result in specific contracts for Serbian companies.
Companies from areas such as building, food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles and consumer goods will participate in the exhibition.
