Dulic said that the Ministry will provide assistance worth €104 million, adding that this is only the first part of the project for drafting municipal plans. Every municipality needs a plan because it is essential for attracting investors.
According to him, a town plan is an important document and local administration cannot be allowed to arbitrarily determine how building land will be used.
He pointed out that the municipalities chosen this time had already allocated funds for this purpose.
The Minister announced that a law on planning and building will soon be prepared to define a new hierarchy of planning documentation and noted that the number of plans should be reduced, but correct drafting procedures must be determined.
Dulic said that the allocation of funds to municipalities or cities will not be affected by political interests, since the interest of local citizens is the priority.
The Minister appealed to municipal representatives to pay more attention to environmental protection, adding that the true importance of this issue will become apparent in the years ahead. Any investment made in environmental protection is an investment in a better life for our future generations, he said.
He said that the Ministry will organise an action at the beginning of next year entitled “Cleaning Serbia”, which will be accompanied by the adoption of important laws establishing regional waste depots and recycling centres in Serbia and make the public aware of the fact that waste disposal does not necessarily need to be a problem, it can also be treated as an important economic resource.
State Secretary at the Serbian Environment Ministry Vladimir Jovanovic said that a municipal plan is an important document demanded by every investor.
He said that the Ministry will continue to support investment projects but funding will depend on budget allocations.
Jovanovic explained that Vrnjacka Banja is one of the 43 cities with which agreements were signed, and it was chosen because it has become a symbol of Serbia’s development.
