According to the statement issued by the Interior Ministry, Susa, who is employed as a physiotherapist at a rehabilitation centre in Zanzur, was kidnapped on October 18 and was reported missing to the Serbian embassy in Tripoli by her colleagues.
Following the successful rescue action it was established that the kidnappers belong to an organised crime group engaged in ransom kidnapping and in Susa’s case a ransom of $3,850,000 was demanded.
Swift and efficient action taken by Libyan authorities led to Susa’s release without the ransom being paid. The Serbian government has expressed its gratitude to the Libyan authorities for their help and the prompt action taken in Susa’s case, which was treated as a top level national security matter.
