Sutanovac also laid a wreath at the memorial devoted to fallen members of the 354th motorised brigade and then visited the Susnjak military base.
The Minister said that the administrative line with Kosovo-Metohija is safe and stable and that the Serbian Army in the Ground Safety Zone is a guarantee of regional stability.
The territory is safe and the Army is carrying out regular activities. I hope it will stay like that throughout the winter and I do not expect destabilisation in the area, for which the 3rd brigade of the Serbian Army is responsible, said Sutanovac.
He added that during the day he will meet with representatives of several municipalities along the administrative line and representatives of local self-governments from the Toplica region.
According to him, the talks are aimed at raising civil and military cooperation to a higher level in order to see how the Serbian Army can help local self-governments to solve infrastructure problems.
The 37th mechanised battalion in the Susnjak military base performed a military exercise simulating how the facility can be defended.
Professional soldiers in the base are tasked with securing the administrative line and the Ground Safety Zone over a length of 16.5 kilometres.
Commanding officers informed Sutanovac that cooperation with both KFOR and the Serbian Gendarmerie in this area was satisfactory.
The 3rd brigade was formed in June 2007 and tasked with securing the administrative line with Kosovo-Metohija and controlling the Ground Safety Zone.
