Director General of the Belgrade City Institute of Public Health Slobodan Tosovic and Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Tadashi Nagai signed today an agreement according to which Japan will donate equipment for testing the water quality to the Belgrade City Public Health Institute.

The equipment worth €58,900 will be of valuable help in improving the quality of water in Serbia.
Serbian Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic, who attended the signing of the agreement, said that the equipment is useful for various procedures and will help improve diagnostic capabilities.
Nagai said that the equipment will be used to prevent water contamination, which is important for public health.
He said that the Japanese government has provided nearly €200 million to Serbia in donations to date.
Tosovic explained that the City Public Health Institute will get funds for equipment for providing reliable laboratory diagnostics at the molecular level in microbiology and human ecology.
The Japanese donation is being provided under a programme for addressing basic human needs and Serbia has received 103 such donations since 1999.
