The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade has marked its 60th anniversary today in attendance of Serbian government officials, rector of the Belgrade University, academicians and professors, businesspeople and former and current students.
The government was represented by Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic, Minister of Education Zarko Obradovic and Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac.
Djelic said that mechanical engineers participated in major energy and industrial projects and that they, together with physicians, made Serbia renowned in the world.
Obradovic said that this faculty since it was established was factor of economic development and added that Serbia will more successful if this faculty is more successful.
Former student, Minister Dragan Sutanovac, said that technical sciences students are capable of recognizing and solving problems and are useful in every segment of society.
Rector of the Belgrade University Branko Kovacevic recalled that this faculty is deserving for billions of dollars that the former Yugoslavia earned from military industry.
This year, Belgrade University is also marking its 200th anniversary.
