Dragin presented students with lunch packets with organic products and said that the Ministry of Agriculture will encourage organic production development.
According to him, this implies a period of conversion into organic production, certification, setting-up demo farms, education of consultants and producers, production of reproduction material created by organic production methods and promotion of organic products and eco and health tourism.
He also recalled that the new law on food safety was adopted last week at the government session and forwarded to parliamentary procedure.
The new law on food safety is to simplify the food production, processing and placement procedures with an emphasis on constant supervision by relevant organs and guarantees of product safety, said Dragin.
He said the new law will primarily protect the health and lives of people, as well as animals, plants and environment.
One of the basic goals of Serbia’s agriculture policy is to ensure stable food supply for consumers at an acceptable price and with satisfactory quality and safety levels, stressed the Minister.
