Serbia, Montenegro resume talks on dual citizenship

The Ministry of Interior stated that Serbia and Montenegro today resumed talks on dual citizenship at the Ministry premises.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic stated that talks were continued at the level of working groups and added he expects them to start at the ministerial level soon.
Dacic explained that this is necessary because the deadline which Montenegro gave its citizens to chose between the Serbian and Montenegrin citizenship expires on October 22.
He reiterated that the agreement on dual citizenship is in the interest of citizens of both states who want to have both Serbian and Montenegrin citizenship.
This is also our obligation toward Montenegrin citizens, and especially toward Serbs who want to have the Serbian citizenship apart from the Montenegrin, said the Minister.
